During our annual organizational meeting, my name will be placed in nomination for the position of Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida.  Many of the REC Chairpersons and State Committee persons have already committed to supporting my effort.  They are supporting my effort because I have taken the time to listen to their ideas and concerns. My platform includes several items.

The first is the establishment of a party platform for the RPOF. You can find more details at PlatformYes.com. I have been asked why we need a platform. The answer is simple. A Platform is a document of ideas that guides Republicans and Elected Republican Officials. A Platform is a document that defines our State Party. A Platform is a document that sends a clear message to the voters about what we believe and how we see the world. This document provides our National Party with a sense of how we the Republicans of Florida think and act on issues.

I believe we need a State Platform. I will do everything within our power to develop a platform for our State Party and get it ratified. I will need your assistance. All Republicans will have an opportunity to lend ideas and thoughts.

As a Republican Leader, I believe there needs to be a structured definition of our State Party goals and ideals. As Republican voters, we are out numbered on both the State and National level. Now more than ever we as Republicans need a clear message, to allow us to retain our base and build a larger one in the months and years to come. It is my goal that through this effort, the RPOF State Committee will ratify a Florida Republican Platform by March 2010. I hope that you will be a part of this historic event.

The second item I am advocating is a return to bottom up operations within our State Party. I will stress less interference in local affairs, encouragement of grass roots initiatives and more flexible criteria that encourage maximum participation by local REC's and Florida Republicans.

I will work with the Governor very closely to insure we are representing all of the Republicans of the State of Florida.

I will work to remove the language recently added to the Statutes that gives extra votes to the Governor and Chairman. I will work to remove the language from Statute that gives the Chairman absolute power on removal of State and Local Party Leaders. We must return the playing field to one of level and fair opportunity for all Republicans. Not doing so will continue to stiffle dialouge and opportunity to grow as a Party. I believe that we, as a party, need to be more financially accountable to those Republicans that donate their time, money and effort to our cause. Excessive travel and entertainment expenses are not representative of our Republican beliefs.

I believe that if there is a source of money to be spent on endorsing candidates in Contested Primary Elections, then there is a source of revenue to assist local REC's in building their strength and presence.

I believe that we as State Leaders need to play a more proactive role in our party’s future. Acting as an informational conduit to our local REC’s is only one aspect of what we as State Party Leaders need to be doing.

The key word is Leader. As your new Party Chairman, I will lead by example. I will lead with integrity. I will lead with purpose and be inclusive of ideas and the Republicans that make this party the Grand Old Party of Florida.

I will not buy votes with lavish party's and financial perks to key REC's. I will earn votes by expressing clear ideas that reflect the values of the Republican Party. I will work to unite our Party with clear goals and purpose that is value driven. (for more detail click here)
